Gwanghwamun Underarm Laser Hair Removal: With Vacation Just Around the Corner

I’m looking into underarm hair removal in a hurry.

Perhaps because this summer has been especially hot, we continue to receive inquiries about underarm laser hair removal. ^^;

It’s easy to assume you’ll have more time once vacation season arrives, but it seems quite a few people end up looking into treatment in a rush just before their vacation.

Today, I’d like to go over some of the questions people commonly ask when considering underarm laser hair removal.

I’ve covered things you may want to know in advance, such as pain, treatment intervals, and cost. I hope you’ll read to the end and find it helpful.

<What We’ll Cover Today>

1. Is it too late to start now?
2. How painful is the treatment?
3. How should I space out my treatments?
4. Is it okay to choose a low-cost option?

With midsummer already here and vacation season approaching, you may be wondering, “Is it too late to start now…?”

To begin with, it’s not necessarily too late.

One reason laser hair removal is recommended before summer is to take sunlight and UV exposure into consideration.

It’s important to be cautious because exposure to strong sunlight while the treated skin is sensitive may cause issues such as hyperpigmentation.

However, unlike the face, arms, and legs, the underarms are not normally exposed directly to sunlight.

Since this area is usually covered by clothing, there’s no need to put off treatment just because it’s summer.

However, results may vary depending on the equipment used and the treatment method.

So rather than focusing only on when to start, it’s important to assess the current condition of your skin and hair and make a suitable treatment plan.

2. How painful is the treatment?

Underarm treatment is said to be less painful than treatment on other areas, but that doesn’t mean you won’t feel any sensation at all.

The laser generates heat as its energy is delivered, so you may feel a stinging sensation or brief warmth.

If your hair is thick and dark, it may respond more strongly to the laser, and you may feel more discomfort as a result.

It may help to know about a few ways to reduce discomfort before treatment.

1. Apply numbing cream before treatment
2. Choose treatment with equipment that has a cooling function

Devices such as the GentleMax Pro Plus lower the temperature of the skin’s surface by spraying a cold gas from the built-in cooling system before delivering the laser.

This may help reduce stinging or a burning sensation during treatment, so keep it in mind. ^^

3. How should I space out my treatments?

Although it varies from person to person, underarm laser hair removal is generally performed every 4–6 weeks, for a total of around 5–8 sessions.

So why do the number of sessions and intervals vary from person to person?

그렇다면 횟수와 주기는 사람마다 차이가 있는 것일까요?

It’s because hair doesn’t all grow at the same time; each hair goes through a different growth cycle.

Stage 1: Anagen (growth phase)

Stage 2: Catagen (transition phase)

Stage 3: Telogen (resting phase)

Hair grows by going through these stages.

Hair in the growth phase contains relatively high levels of melanin pigment, which responds to laser energy.

In contrast, during the transition or resting phase, melanin levels decrease and follicle activity also declines, so the hair may respond less to laser energy.

Since hairs are at different stages of growth, multiple treatment sessions are needed to reduce them gradually.

Some people begin to notice a difference after about 4–5 sessions, generally spaced one month apart.

However, results may vary depending on individual factors such as hair thickness and density, as well as hormones.

Rather than assuming that the number of sessions or intervals that worked for someone else will be right for you,

it’s important to discuss your options thoroughly with your medical provider and create a treatment plan that suits you.

4. Is it okay to choose a low-cost option?

Laser hair removal is not a one-time treatment, so people often purchase multiple sessions at once.

“5 sessions, 10 sessions, unlimited”

Costs vary depending on the number of sessions included, and prices can also differ from clinic to clinic depending on whether there are special offers.

Naturally, people considering treatment may be drawn to clinics with lower prices.

However, clinics with exceptionally low prices may attract a large number of patients,

and in those circumstances, treatment results may also vary.

When many patients need to be treated in a short time,

it may be difficult in practice to carefully assess each person’s skin and hair and adjust the settings accordingly.

So if you see a particularly low price, it’s a good idea to look into why the price is different.

You may save a few tens of thousands of won upfront but not see enough change, meaning you need additional treatments,

and that could bring the total cost to more than you initially expected.

It’s difficult to judge the quality of laser hair removal based on price alone.

The equipment used

Energy settings tailored to each person

The treatment environment

Be sure to take a close look at these factors as well.

Today, I’ve covered some things worth knowing before getting Gwanghwamun underarm laser hair removal.

Rather than rushing into a decision, comparing and looking into two or three clinics based on the information I’ve shared may help you choose the right treatment.

Have a wonderful vacation, and stay healthy for the rest of the summer. ^^

Thank you. This was Lee Won-jin.
