Myeongdong Onda Lifting: How Should You Approach Body Contouring?
Hello.
I’m Lee Kang-in, Medical Director of Kind Global Clinic. I provide care by listening closely to my patients’ concerns.

As the weather warms up and we start wearing lighter clothes, it’s easy to notice stubborn fat around the abdomen, thighs, and upper arms.
Some people consider treatments when regular exercise and dietary changes don’t bring the results they want.
One treatment often mentioned in connection with these concerns is “body ONDA.”
Can you actually expect to see a change?
How long do the results last?
Is the treatment uncomfortable?
Many people hesitate to make a decision because of questions like these.
Today, we’ll go through some of the most common questions about body ONDA.
I’ll share objective information based on relevant research,
so reading to the end may help answer your questions.
Myeongdong ONDA Lifting: What Should You Know First?
1. How does it work?
2. Does it actually work?
3. How long do the results last?
4. Is it really painless?
1. How does it work?

ONDA and conventional radiofrequency (RF) devices differ in how deeply and in what way they deliver energy.
ONDA uses 2.45 GHz microwave energy to deliver heat to fat tissue.
The fat cells reached by the energy receive thermal stimulation,
which may change the function of some fat cells and reduce the volume of the fat layer.
It may also promote collagen regeneration in the dermis,
so it can be used to address both stubborn fat and skin laxity.

Because of these characteristics, in clinical practice it is often used on areas such as the
abdomen
flanks
inner thighs
upper arms
accessory breast tissue
—areas where people are concerned about both fat and reduced skin elasticity.
2. Does it actually work?

It’s difficult to determine whether a treatment leads to real changes based on its mechanism of action alone.
Clinical studies objectively examining ONDA’s effects are also being published on an ongoing basis.
① Research on Abdominal Fat Reduction

A 2024 study, Use of a microwave device for the treatment of cellulite and localized fat adiposity: a 1-year follow-up study,
analyzed the results of microwave treatments in patients with localized fat and cellulite.

The study found a reduction in circumference and improvement in cellulite after treatment, along with high participant satisfaction.
The researchers observed that these changes did not last only for a short time,
but tended to remain relatively stable even one year later.
② Research on Changes in Thigh Cellulite

Microwave Therapy for Cellulite: An Effective Non-Invasive Treatment
evaluated treatment outcomes for cellulite on the thighs and buttocks.

Clinical photographs in the paper show a reduction in skin surface irregularities,
with an overall smoother, more defined body contour also visible.
The study also reported a significant reduction in cellulite severity.

However, the results of a study are not the same for everyone.
Amount of fat
Skin elasticity
Lifestyle
Weight changes
Results can vary depending on these and other factors.
That said, if you’re asking whether it works,
the results observed in clinical studies
can serve as useful evidence to consider.
That’s how I would explain it.
3. How long do the results last?

First, let me be clear:
The results of a single treatment are not permanent.
Over time, fat cells affected by heat may decrease through the body’s metabolic processes,
and the more defined body contour may
last for a certain period of time.
How long the results last varies by individual, but they commonly persist for 6 months to over 1 year.
If your weight remains fairly stable, the changes may last longer.

On the other hand, if you gain a significant amount of weight after treatment,
the remaining fat cells may grow larger, making stubborn fat more noticeable again.
That’s why ongoing care after treatment is important.
ONDA is less a device for weight loss than
a treatment focused on refining and shaping your existing body contours.
4. Is it really painless?

“A painless fat treatment”
is a phrase often used to describe ONDA.
It might sound like a marketing claim^^;
but the sensation is generally closer to a feeling of warmth than pain.
That’s because the treatment is designed to protect the skin’s surface while delivering energy to the target tissue.
(I’ve tried the treatment on myself, and that was a similar sensation.)

The warmth may feel stronger when treating areas with more fat or using higher energy settings.
However, the handpiece has a cooling system, so the treatment can be performed while protecting the skin’s surface temperature.
If slight redness occurs immediately after treatment, it is usually temporary.
If you’re considering treatment but are worried about pain, please speak with a medical professional first.

Today, I’ve covered some common questions about body ONDA.
I hope this article has helped answer some of your questions. I’ll wrap up here.
Thank you. This has been Lee Kang-in.
